Avi Casino to Kelso Road

Meeting spot
Avi Casino gas station at 8.00am Saturday April 16th 2011
Leaving at 8.30am

Itinerary
Joining Mojave Road off Needles highway. (N35 3.12’ W114 40.57’). Driving to Fort Piute for lunch.
Then on to Mid Hills campground (probable camping fee). Visiting various sites along the way.

Day 2
Leave camp ground around 9.30am. Back up to Mojave Road heading to Kelso Road. Again stopping at sites along the way.

Things to bring
Water (1 gal/person/day)
Full size spare tire
Recovery Gear (optional)
Food
Camping equipment
Clothing (warm/cold and dry/wet)
FRS radio
Air compressor or tank in case we air down and need to air back up

Total trip along this section of Mojave Road is about 85 miles. I’m not doing Soda Lake, from what I’ve read still a possibility of getting stuck in soft mud (figured it wouldn’t be good losing trucks on my first trip).

(I plan to camp at Mid Hills on Friday night if anyone wants to join me.)

Be prepared for a cold night as those Mid Hills (campground) are at 5,600 feet!

Question to the web master, is there a way to IM just those who are going on this trip? I tried but couldn't find a way.

yup... in the to line copy the names from the trip...(just add comma between them-space if you wish after comman)
and PM away...
John Martindale, John Short, Mark Wood, Benjamin Hall, Michael Coronado, Martin Geoffreys

Hopefully in the future this will be more integrated but currently not an option...

Hey John,

I'm going to have to bail out on Mojave Road this time around. I'm working on a dual battery setup and I haven't gotten it all sorted out yet...I'm thinking maybe the Mojave road isn't the proving ground I'm looking for to make sure it works correctly. I've wanted to do it, but it'll have to wait until next time.
