RRX is less than a month away and we don't have enough Trail Leaders, c'mon guys you can't always be following the leader, one day you must act as a leader so why not be a trail leader!

We will provide all the way points all you have to do is be the one in the front of every Rover, lead them up and down the trail, be willing to spot, or call for help when needed and someone will rush up or down to help everyone.

As a thank you we will also give each trail leader a "Trail Leader" T-Shirt, A trail leader Cap, and maybe you can hang out at my camp site for some R&R at the end of the day and we can exchange some horror stories of the day. How about it, we need "5" more guys or gals, pick a trail and let's have the greatest time on this Tenth Annual Rover Rendezvous....

I would lead a trail but I have to get you your ice, drinks and food ready so when you get down off the trail you'll have a comfortable time, having your BBQ, your ice cold Dr. Pepper and chill out by the camp fire and shoot the Sh..t with me and the rest of the gang.

Now SIGN UP as a trail leader, and you can tell your grand kids you were once a trail leader on RRX and you had a great time winching up one of the new bees, or you rescued a beautiful girl in a Land Rover stuck in the forest about to be devoured by a Bear, in Big Bear and you married her because you fell in love with her at first sight.

Oh hell I wanna sign up as a trail leader, I want to rescue her! care to fight over her...

Omid,

I just registered today but when I got to the part which asks people to select their trails I did not see Holcomb Creek?

Thanks Paul, Thanks Joe, for the input.

I believe when I talked to the Forest Service last, they said that they are going to be opening it around the end of June.

I will verify this and ask for it be put on the list.

Thanks again for the Heads up!

I did a brief check and supposedly it opened May 31st of this year (memorial day weekend).

I have no idea its condition. If its still all torn up and rated as difficult, I will lead that trail on Saturday.

UPDATE:

Just called the Big Bear Discovery Center. 3N14, or Holcomb Valley Road is now open the entire way. This is basically a fire road and is suitable for ALL vehicles, even cars.

Holcomb Creek, 3N08, however, is still closed and opening date is undetermined at this time.

bummer.

As was mentioned, the trail leaders this year will not only receive an event Trail Leader cap, as a professional outdoors club and an additional token of appreciation, they will also receive an official "Trail Leader" event T-Shirt that will also provide members with an easy visual as to the event Trail official, while on the trails.

The Trail leader shirts will likely be a different color than the event shirts, and display the "RRX Trail Leader" logo.

We still need volunteers for the the trails highlighted in green below (Red Trails have designated Trail Leaders):

Saturday July 17th
Gold Mountain : Jim Biram
John Bull:
Holcomb Creek: Paul von Klosst-Dohna
Heartbreak Ridge: Scott Horsely
White Mountain:
Dishpan Springs: Peter Freska
Gold Fever Trail:
Horsetheif Flat Trail: Brad Cogswell

Sunday July 18th
Gold Mountain: Paul von Klosst-Dohna
John Bull:
Holcomb Creek:
Heartbreak Ridge:
White Mountain:
Dishpan Springs:
Gold Fever Trail:
Horsetheif Flat Trail:

We will likely have a Trail Leader Meeting at Skyline Loop Friday night (of the RRX weekend) around 7:30 to go over trails in general.

If you are volunteering as a Trail Leader and have some literature or a Topo map of your trail that you would like to pass out on your trail, please e-mail (or PM) them to me and I will be more than glad to get them printed for you (my e-mail : This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Time volunteered for the event is greatly appreciated in advance by all of the members and attendees.

You still have "Holcomb Creek" (3N08) listed even though its closed. Holcomb Valley Road (3N14) is open but that's just a fire road that goes east/west mostly all along the north side of Big Bear. Basically a main artery for all the other trails in that area.

I will volunteer to lead John Bull on Saturday and Dishpan on Sunday but I have some stipulations however.....

1. There will be vehicle and driver requirements due to the nature of the trails.
2. Max vehicles will be 8 unless prior approval is arranged with me.
