I would like to lead a one day trip through Joshua Tree National Park on Saturday, November 3. We would meet along I-10 near Indio and leave the pavement on Berdoo Canyon Road to enter the Park from the south. Early on there would be a brief stop at historic Berdoo Camp before making our way to Geology Tour Road in the Park. We would drive the Park Roads to the east and then turn off on Old Dale Road and drive through the Pinto Basin to visit several sites in the Mining District.
Exit will be to the north via Gold Crown Road to reach Highway 62 and proceed west to Twentynine Palms. There we will have the unique opportunity to 'show our Rovers a good time' by taking them to the Smith Ranch Drive-in Movie, one of the few such remaining.
This is a one day trip, and when your fun meter has pegged you may want to motor home or make a weekend of it by staying over in the high desert town (with a Marine environment) of Twentynine Palms or take advantage of the many camping areas in the National Park.
Is anyone interested? Please reply on the Roverboard or feel free to send me a private message via the Clubhouse.
