I had read the same in regards to Baker Creek, also fishing in Rocky Bottom Lake just over the hill from Funnel is a supposedly quite a bit better. Should be fun regardless. Sadly, it looks like we lost John and Janet today to a blown head gasket, which is a painful experience. We could use a couple more vehicles on this trip, just to round out the group. This trip is more for campers, and lovers of the outdoors, rather than hard core offroad vehicles. I had a chance to get together with Nathan Woods to hear about his experiences in Coyote Flats in 2007, and I am even more convinced this will be a magical trip for all who come. Yes, it will be primitive camping, but at 10,000 feet, you will see some of the most beautiful area of the state. You can check out his photos here:

For those of you with Google Earth, here is a link to a KML file that follows the start of the trail and ends at the approximate location where we will probably camp, if the spot hasn't been already taken by the time we arrive. Assuming we can depart Bishop by 1:00 we should arrive at the campsite by 4:00, allowing ample time to set up camp before dark.
