Talc Mines | Burro Schmidt | Goler Gulch March 6 5 Months ago
Karma: 4
I'm going to make my way up to the ole Dutch Cleanser Mine in the El Paso Mountains on March 6th.
We'll leave from there and head over to Burro Schmidt Tunnel (our lunch stop), then to Goler Gulch. Finishing up with a run over Government Peak and maybe dinner in Mojave at a Pizza joint.
I'd like to meet at Jawbone Station around 9:30 am and leave no later than 10 am. Bring FRS/GMRS/CB.
This is not an SCLR-sanctioned trip- I have a friend who just bought a Jeep and needs to get it dirty. It's a relatively tame trail- I don't want to scare my friend with his first off-road adventure.
Feel free to join us and invite your friends (Land Rovers or not).
Please post here if you plan to join us and leave your cell number in case you're running late or there's a change of plans.

I might try to bring one of my Jeep buddies along as well...
We'll be there at 9:30 if we make it out... (no later than 10am)
(just remind us to purchase / obtain the correct permit / pass for the govt peak side of the road)

Just checked with Jawbone Station Visitor Center and they said all roads are open in the El Paso range.
Should be a fun time.
It'll probably rain around noon on Saturday for about an hour, just about the time we're at Burro Schmidt Tunnel. That'll make for an interesting adventure.
Then a little more rain around 3 or 4 pm, just about the time we should be going through Goler Gulch. It doesn't get much better than this.

Hey Frank-
I'd like to join you tomorrow. I'd have my two boys with me (8&4). They're pretty well mannered, reasonably cautious and off road enthusiasts. That said, I don't want anyone to be bummed that there's kids along so feel free to tell me to wait for the next one and it won't hurt my feelings a bit.
