Description
"Night with the Ghost" Halloween "Night" Run Berdoo Ghost Town Trip Leader Coy Glasscock
Halloween NIGHT run to a Ghost Town YES, COSTUMES ARE ENCOURAGED (AS LONG AS YOU CAN DRIVE SAFELY WITH THEM) Camping is optional. We will be meeting at the “White Tanks” campground in Joshua Tree National Park on Halloween day. The option of camping will be yours. Throughout the day we will be setting up camp and enjoying some trail hiking and/or Rock Climbing. We will allow time for “trick-or-treating” around camp and maybe a few stories of the last off-roaders that tried to drive the trail at night. If you haven’t heard, no one has heard from them since, but you may be able to still hear their screams in the night. We will depart the campgrounds around 4:30 PM and head for the Geological Tour Road; from there we will leave the safety of our National Parks and head out on the desolate trail, undercover of a haunted October moon. We will attempt to make it past all of the monsters, ghouls and goblins for about 22 miles where we hope to arrive at a hospital that has long been abandoned by all the living, but may still be occupied. We will try and explore the Ghost Town of Berdoo Hospital providing that the ghost of the past patients will allow, then we will get back on the trail and continue just a couple of miles to a paved road that will allow for those who are not camping to be on their way. This is just the halfway point for the rest. Now we will have to turn around and go back the same spooky route to our campsite. If we survive the hallowed night we will awake in a beautiful National Park with many possibilities for family fun and entertainment. This trail can be done with any Factory Land Rover and is considered a easy trail. But always be prepared with Flashlights, FSR radios, First-Aid kit, Gas, Water, Tools, ect. Good tires with a spare. Temps should be mild during the day but be prepared for cool temps at night. (The below is not part of SCLR) My wife and I personally will be doing some “low grade” rock climbing on Sunday if anyone is interested in joining us, or even for first timers interested. If interested in first time “rock climbing” or “rock climbing for kids” please email me at:
