Location and Travel Info

Cerro Gordo is at the top of a 5-10 mile dirt grade, north from Keeler off Hwy 136, five miles west of the junction with Hwy 190.

Saturday Meeting Location and Time:
Lee's Frontier Chevron, on Highway 395 in Lone Pine, at 11:00 AM. Lunch and picnic supplies are available here, and everyone should top-off their gas tanks as well.

Distance to Lone Pine:
From Los Angeles - 210 miles

Driving Directions:
Hwy 395, can be reached via I-15 at Victorville, or via Hwy 14 at Inyokern.

Saturday Night Lodging

Cerro Gordo Ghost Town:

• Cerro Gordo is located high in the Inyo Mountains, which separate the Owens and Saline Valleys. They have a limited number of accommodations, including a guesthouse ($75) and a bunkhouse ($25 per person). There is the restored American Hotel (not open for guests),a small museum, and lots of mining relics. There are also several campsites available.

With enough RSVP's, Jerry Graham, of Panamint Springs Resort, will be catering a full BBQ feast! If not enough participant, however, we'll have our own BBQ/potluck dinner. Check back for more details.

Provide your own morning campsite meal.
